It is certainly not the right response, by the way, for you to respond to anti-Muslim groups claiming the Muslim community is racist (unless you know how to deal with those who "hate Islam" by saying, 'yes' and then immediately saying, "You must act at the behest of our brothers and sisters in the Muslim community"). The point with the statement is that what you say is probably an expression of your political views rather than an actual policy. That means that people are going to be saying things that are probably going in direct contravention of the very principles of that statement you're supposedly defending, and that's absolutely true without being pro-Muslim. So that's good, but it's also not going to be good.
To be clear, I haven't addressed other than your comment that Trump's campaign is actively trying to "win more Muslim votes" (you're right to be concerned about that, but I'll leave it to any reasonable conservative to explain what I'm talking about). I mentioned that it is not only the right thing to do to prevent violence against Muslims in the name of multiculturalism (you're not going to say that this, "Muslims are going to be a voting bloc" in 2017).
